(We) Travis Frye and Catherine Brooks are two people who live in Richmond, Va.

Although we like to think of ourselves as special, if you’re in the city for the first time, there’s a good chance that you’ll meet other individuals that are easy to confuse with us. We are surrounded by so many inspiring people. Our affairs with these amazing people fuel our drive to create not just better artwork, but better relationships with others AND ourselves. In keeping with this phenomenon, our friendship has maintained a level of progression and importance that rivals that of our artistic productivity. We think and hope that shows through in what we present.

This body of portraiture is partly a celebration and partly a side effect of an exploration into the powerful connections we all have with people, outside of definitions and sometimes in spite of them. It isn't about glass slippers or even a Princess Di fantasy. This is about the romance we are lucky enough to be a part of in our everyday interactions when we choose to engage in it. These friends in our lives are not more important than the people in yours. We just hope that in sharing, we will inspire you to honor your own moments when your friends, co workers and crushes look at you in that way.
